About windsurfsafari.com:

Hello fellow windsurfers and admirers!
Tim Walker here, your windsurfsafari.com web photographer/windsurfer, I am glad you could stop by!

As you might have noticed, margiwindsurfing.com has been renamed to windsurfsafari.com effective July 12th 2008. I thought the name change was in order, now that I am on a worldwide windsurf trip! (Both the new and old domain names will work, and point to the same website.)

The windsurfsafari concept was born from my experiences in El Yaque beach, Margarita, Venezuela. I had been taking ‘on the water’ digital action photos of all my sailing mates before my sailing sessions and posting these photos with a daily blog for the duration of the trip while I was there.

This has recently led me to more and more windsurfing contacts with people throughout the world, and this has expanded my windsurfing travel to see even more of the windsurfing sites that this planet has to offer that everyone talks about!!

So far I have toured some of Europe, and it was so amazing and fun, I have made a grand plan for an expanded windsurfsafari over the next 8 months!!

So to read about the action, check out my semi-daily BLOG page! This is updated nearly every day during my days spent at each location.

I also post any related decent pictures taken on the PHOTO page. These are at a free web viewing JPG resolution of 800x600. If you want the full quality shot, you may simply add the photo(s) of your choice to your shopping cart for $1.99 each, checkout with PayPal or Credit card, and the full 8 mega-pixel photos will be emailed to you to share your windsurfing memories with friends and family!

I often grab some videos as well while out on the water, these short 640x480 AVI Video clips are posted for free on the VIDEOS page. If you have high speed internet, check them out! (They do work on slower connections, but be warned the files can get pretty big/slow.)

The FORUM page allows users to post messages to one another, to share the stoke, and chat about the fun that is windsurfing in Margarita and elsewhere!! Go thru a short registration, and you can be posting in no time! We welcome your creative side!

View the SPONSORS page to see those that have helped make this all possible.

For the various locations see the LOCATION INFORMATION page for details on each of the safari destinations, and you can contact me at the CONTACT page.

Thanks for visiting!
Tim

August 6th; Prep for the drive to NJ.

I got the van and kit ready for departure, and just had to add a new board to the pile, so after some discussion with Marko, and a few reviews on the web, I selected a Tabou Rocket 115 Ltd from the online store, and it was delivered to Burnsville, a suburb south of the [...]

August 4th; final visit home before departure.

I wanted to visit my home town one more time before the big travel plans of the windsurf safari, so I packed the van with the dogs and my bike, and headed north to Babbitt, MN for one last visit before the trip, to visit my assembly facility (Jerry’s place..) and my mom and dad. The [...]

Thursday July 3rd; Amstel River to the Mississippi River!

Morning in Amsterdam; I walked all thru the evening on Wednesday into Thursday, and was actually lost for awhile, but the place is laid out by some old Cartographer dudes, and it is pretty easy to find your way around. I did my earlier exploration in circles, to build a familiarity with the streets and [...]

Wednesday July 2nd; Amstel River; Amsterdam; Netherlands! Amended..

Loving Amsterdam!! Got up around 10-11AM, had my café on the boat deck in between the thunderstorms and sprinkles, and then ventured over to the train station to exchange some USD for Euro. This was easy, as I followed the locals to figure out how to get in and all, and then used my new cash to [...]

Tuesday July 1st; Amstel River; Amsterdam; Netherlands!

Good morning Amsterdam!! I awake today with new energy!  I was feeling bad there for awhile, but I have been a bunch better, and working on a new life, and much less bummed out about it all! Amsterdam is good for that, helping you to look about, and seeing that life goes on all around you, and [...]

Monday June 30th; Amsterdam; revised.

Hello people. Today the sadness of the loss of my Estonian friends continues, my cold is slightly worse, and I just can’t get off the boat to enjoy the city. I spent the day talking on the phone with Epp and my mom trying to get a handle on life, and my place in it. I emailed a [...]

Sunday June 29th; Leaving Tallinn Estonia.

Tere Hommikus! I woke up early around 7AM, and was surprisingly awake for some 3-4 hours of sleep!  I knew it was my final few hours here, and could not bear to spend any extra time in bed! I finished the final packing of the laundered items that were just now dry, and texted Epp to come [...]

Saturday June 28th; Tallinn Estonia!

Tere!I woke up early and lazed about, and heard a large engine out in the courtyard revving up, and got up to check it out.  It was the GTO I had seen parked the previous evening, and I just had to snap some photos of the motor heads that had stayed the evening here.   Some [...]
